Bouvard on Vance's Political Naiveté and Media Deflection
Vance seems genuinely oblivious as to why anyone might find his association with Carlson objectionable. And yet he speaks with him regularly and about substantive issues and must be aware of his content. I thought he was being evasive, but maybe the subject just hasn’t come up.
Whatever else it means it definitely shows he’s not media savvy.
His followers have gone to a lot of trouble to gaslight us into thinking it was just a question of loyalty to a friend, a refusal to buckle to cancel culture, etc. and there was no political or intellectual relationship between them—and he just blows that construct out of the
water, and in the most casual way possible. Is he really clueless? Is this an attempt to get ahead of the issue, so it all seems normal by 2028? I suppose we’ll have to see how the Vanceguard reconstellates around this latest move.
At least the attempt to distance Vance from Carlson has the Vanceguard on the record denouncing Carlson unmistakably, so now they have to deal with a stark contradiction in messaging. I expect they’ll address it with their usual deftness.
@SiobhanShamwow Absolutely. A Groyper Roundtable.
@SiobhanShamwow I’m comfortable using “groyper” in a rather loose way, although maybe I should change to “groyperoid “ or “groyperesque” or something.
@SiobhanShamwow Terminology is always a problem for new sciences.
