I think a better framing of “signification” can start from one of Wierzbicka’s primes: the word “same.” When we speak about the “meaning” or “sense” of a word, what we are saying is that it is the same word in its different uses. This “sameness” is verified, or affirmed, or authenticated, along with each use—this is the “Name-of-God” implicit in every utterance.
