Bouvard on Vance's Antisemitic Circle and GOP Complicity

By Dennis Bouvard

Plain text

I have no idea whether JD Vance will be the next president but I know that if he is we will have a president who is close friends with and, it seems, takes regular counsel from, someone who not only disseminates monstrous lies about Jews but even invents his own. Wat mean?

And he will be surrounded by sycophants in the GOP and right wing media whose full time job will be to tell you you're corrupt, delusional or disloyal for noticing this. ("Can't you accept disagreements about Israel," etc.)

@SiobhanShamwow Is it a messaging shift? This poster and others like him have been on this track for a while. The point is to get "Boomer cucks" to complain so one can dismiss them as out of step with the new movement. It may be that they also want to put Vance in a tight spot, hold him hostage.

@SiobhanShamwow The post of the Indian students at the game just provided an opportunity because it came from a GOP candidate so other Republicans and conservative felt olbiged to respond. That's the game--force them to respond.

@SiobhanShamwow No, but they can believe and act as if they can--"you're already compromised by your Indian wife and biracial children but we'll lay off of that if you show yourself reliable on our issues."

@SiobhanShamwow You may be looking at a wider sphere of people than I have in mind here. I think they see the Indians as an easy target, and so anyone defending them or not joining in the attack becomes an easy target as well. They can keep it up until attention fades.

@SiobhanShamwow They see themselves as hardening themselves for the battle ahead, so being willing to trash your favored candidate for the sake of the team is good practice. It often strikes me like a monologue in the mirror, like DeNiro in Taxi Driver, taunting imaginary opponents.

@SiobhanShamwow He has a more difficult obstacle course to traverse than many seem to think, and he doesn't seem so ready to navigate it. And from whom does he take advice?

@SiobhanShamwow All big problems, but I mean more on how to handle the spectre of Tucker. Someone is telling him to stand his ground, so we'll see how that works out for him. Who knows what Carlson might do over the next couple of year?
