Bouvard on Trump Administration's Governance Limitations

By Dennis Bouvard

Plain text

The limits of the Trump administration--not rapid enough deportations, no securing of elections, no prosecutions of deeps state conspirators, very little progress in breaking up leftist organizations--must lie primarily in the difficulty of transforming the GOP from a corporate

party interested in tax cuts and social conservative grifting to a party that wants to govern long-term; but, also, in the kinds of appointments Trump made, which is also a result of the very shallow pool or real or potential "Trumpists." I don't see anyone doing anything to

remedy this, not even working out a coherent program based on the Trump break with Reaganism/Gringrichism. The Vance campaign has chosen to focus on a very narrow non-problem--the "neo-cons," "Israel Firsters," etc.--as a shortcut to power, and providing themselves with personnel

in the form of Carlsonites and groypers. If the get power they will wreck things; if they lose, whomever they lose to will do the same. Trump succession looks very bleak, and other avenues to rebuilding US sovereignty will be sought.
