Bouvard on Jewish Responsibility and Israeli-American Alignment

By Dennis Bouvard

Plain text

If US-Israel relations are now to be based on hard-headed realism, Israelis "calling out" progressive American Jews for their support of immigration should not be part of the equation since Israelis exercise no control over progressive American Jews. So why arrange for it?

Whether deliberate or not, the effect is to enforce the principle that all Jews everywhere are responsible for what any Jew anywhere does. Endorsing this principle is an attempt at a kind of ritual offering from a faction of the Israeli right to a faction of the US right.

And this would create a new, and weirder, "special relationship" between the two countries, based on the decades-old attempt to position Israel among the right-wing states. If it's a question of recruiting states for a global war against the left, just lay out the plan.

Concealing it with moralizing rhetoric seems like a very "neocon" way to approach it. Has anyone at NatCon addressed the need to deal with the deep state, in both the US and Israel? That would be a salutary interruption of all the babble about common cultures, etc.
