Bouvard on Generational Warfare and Mimetic Scapegoating

Dennis Bouvard · X / Twitter · Oct 04, 2026 · 1 min read

The anti-boomerists seem to think that people born between 1946 and 1964 were making all the most consequential political decisions (all by themselves) from the time of their birth. A very weird ideology, one directing frenzied hatred at people who will all be gone in ~20 years.

This may make it harmless, but also pointless. Of course, the Boomers did invent this kind of generational warfare; more likely, it was invented for them by "Greatest Generation" ad men and PR flaks--so, maybe it's just mindless mimicry. (Who's inventing this stuff for gen-Z?)

The frustration comes from the fact that, as the product of a *Baby Boom*, the boomers outnumbered previous and subsequent generations, so they can't be outvoted. So, the worst thing you could accuse the Boomers of is not having a baby boom of their own.

It really is just basic decency and simple generosity to leave more of yourselves behind. But the Boomers didn't invent the population explosion hysteria.

The most archetypal Boomers imaginable would have to be Bill and Hillary Clinton, but the 90s figure as a kind of Shangri-La within Zoomerist propaganda.
